Entertaining management: Lifting off!

Future pilots: Let me operate this control column, and that one is yours.

It turns out the prop thrust is what Carlson flies on, whereas Baba Yaga (as British scientists suggest) makes it by the jet thrust. How dreams about flights are made a reality is what children learnt at another seminar of “Entertaining management”.

This was the opening seminar of the second term of the project “Entertaining Managements for Kids and Adults” launched by the Corporate University in May 2015 on the VD president’s initiative.

To tell the kids about aircraft the Corporate University invited those who were the best at it.

The flight director is asking such questions…

The company flight director Igor Aksenov and the senior navigator Sergey Alekseev made a very eventful program to explore the topic of aircraft operation through a series of very clear and simple experiments. The principle of the propeller thrust was demonstrated by maple ‘helicopters’, the principle of the wing – by two strips of paper, and the jet thrust – by air balloons.

At the end of the class the kids were challenged with the role of a navigator: using two real instruments (a measuring tape and a compass) they made a blind flight. Every “soft landing’ won a sweet reward.

Vsevolod Akhmadullin, the project participant:
– I enjoyed the seminar very much, it was interesting. Learning to use the compass was especially useful. They don’t teach it at school.

… which the kids are willing to answer.

Olga Mishagina, leading specialist on currency control, Egor’s mother:
– Thank you for organizing the seminar and your creative approach! Here’s what my son has been sharing for two days already: “You know the Volga-Dnepr director himself once came to our school. And this time we met the airspace director! They told us a lot about aircraft parts, the fuselage. I liked our blind flight – we were doing the puzzle. Then, they told us about presents! We were trying to guess what presents? – Chocolate bars!”

We are now looking forward to the next project seminar “Air Traffic Control” which is scheduled for October.
