On Board Again: On the Way to Farnborough

It was just another October day, but then they gathered together one more time to merrily build a tower of 100 sheets and learn something about management … That’s right, Ulyanovsk saw continuation of the “Entertaining Management for Kids and Adults” project.

We refer to the second stage of the project set up by Corporate University in 2016, initiated by the Group President. This year we get acquainted with the secrets of project management.

Knowledge of this kind is very applicative, by the way! The kids in cooperation with the company’s experts will master important life skills – setting and achieving their goals, managing time and working as part of a team effectively and efficiently.

The moderator of the first training session – Yury Zaytsev, Head of VDM Programs Management Office, who has been working on projects for over 13 years – prepared 2 lessons for the “students”.

The first lesson was theoretical. Yuriy suggested the participants that they should answer the questions on the check list and identify areas of underperformance – 2 or 3 challenges they have to deal with in their personal or academic life. They were to make up a plan to overcome those challenges at home.

The participants thought thoroughly about their life!

The second lesson was practical. The objective was simple. The winner was the team who managed to build the highest tower of 100 sheets and prevent it from falling for 1 minute. The teams at once chose different strategies.

The brave decided to take a risk.

“The young and the cool” took to business intelligence and quick implementation of their competitors’ solutions.

And the third team applied the team work strategy, which brought it to victory! As the winners pointed out, they got the first prize thanks to: making up with a good idea at the very beginning and working in cooperation, when everybody knows his own trade, as well as some knowledge of Mechanics.

The tower was so solid that not only it did not fall in one minute, but also survived field testing by delivery at high speed.

The moderator is satisfied with the children’s work, which is important because at the same time he is a customer of a real project. This project will be implemented by the participants in the course of study. Every 2 years major airlines represent their companies at the largest airshow, which is held in Farnborough. In 2018 the “Entertaining Management” participants’ mini projects will be included into our company’s draft program at the airshow.
