“Want to Be a Leader!”


The preliminary program “I Want to Be a Leader” has started in Volga-Dnepr Group offices around the world. Classes for the company management reserve “Volga-Dnepr Future Leaders” were conducted in Ulyanovsk, Moscow, Shanghai, Hongkong and Leipzig in August.

Let us recall that the presidential program “Future Leaders” is being realized by the Corporate University within the strategic project “100 new generation executives to lead the strategy realization”. It is meant for training of the company management reserve and gives every employee an opportunity to become a real leader.

So, the preliminary program “I Want to Be a Leader” is the assessment stage for the candidates of the second enrolment and is conducted with active participation of the company senior executives and first graduates of the “Future Leaders” program. Together they assess the candidates’ leadership potential.

This is what the participants share:

Larisa Kotelnikova, leading specialist on currency control, VDA:
– I like the class activities – swapping places, working in teams. I’m sure there’s a lot more interesting ahead!

Anton Popov, leading auditor, VDM:
– I like this friendly atmosphere. It is interesting to watch the process of creating ideas, to think over non-routine tasks, non-standard solutions.

Maria Ermolenko, quality manager VDA:
– We worked out quite useful solutions on cost reduction and some of them can be realized now.

Maxim Chernikov, air transportation leading manager, VDA:
– Thank you to the course designers! What I really appreciate is that the case studies were based on the company problems. It gives you the sense of belonging. We approached the problems from different perspectives.

The graduates of the first program enrolment addressed the participants with the message about the opportunities the program provides: best teachers on theory and practice of management from Volga-Dnepr and many other companies, participation in important strategic projects, rotations, job shadowing, etc.

– I wish all the program participants to do their best. It’s worth it! They will have excellent teachers and opportunities to use gained knowledge on daily basis.

– Learn to listen to and hear each other! Communication is the key! Do not be afraid to voice your ideas. Even if your viewpoint is not typical, it should be voiced. Very often this is where the solution is hidden. You are on the experimental platform there. When we were on training, we didn’t wait to implement some reasonable for the company ideas, we started realizing them with the acting company leaders. Our top managers really lack such opportunities for brainstorming. So, you will be heard!
