Riding the sky


VDA_6158_cutFor a day Volga-Dnepr Airlines has become a professional communication venue for the air traffic control experts from all over the country.

The Operation Control Center (OCC) executives of the leading Russian airlines gathered to work together at the seminar “21 Century Air Transport Operations Center” held by the Volga-Dnepr Corporate University.
It was for the first time that alongside with “Volga-Dnepr”, “AirBridgeCargo” and “Atran” airlines there were the representatives of the eight largest Russian airlines: “Aeroflot”, “Transaero”, “Siberia”, “UTair”, “Ikar Airlines”, “Ural Airlines”, “VIM-AVIA” and “Orenburg Airlines”.
At the seminar opening the “Volga-Dnepr” CEO Mikhail Smirnykh emphasized the necessity of collecting knowledge and sharing experience. The participants had a lively conversation on the issues of OCC structure and functions and its significance in terms of operating efficiency increase; discussed how to encourage the personnel to be more result-oriented.
Cooperating in group work they managed to discuss the role of OCC in aircraft accident prevention, consider current matters of automation process and the human factor impact. Besides the participants had an opportunity to visit the “Volga-Dnepr” Air Transport Operations Center and the complex flight  simulator AN-124-100 – one of the largest aircraft in the world.
Everybody made their contribution to one of the “Volga-Dnepr” strategic objectives – creation of the Industry Knowledge Center. They also concurred that the meeting was effective in terms of barriers elimination, expertise exchange and establishment of the atmosphere of trust. The companies’ experts filled in the “expert cards” which will become a part of the Industry Knowledge Center database.
As a result of the seminar the parties made arrangements to visit the OCC of “Aeroflot” and “Transaero”.
