“Diseases are cured by doctors while health is procured by ourselves”

VDA_0245In September, in Lapino, Moscow region, Corporate University’s TOP-Class School Session was held. This was called “Health is the Basis of Working Capacity. Work is the Basis of Health”. The participants, over twenty Company Managers, proved that health is among the key values to Volga-Dnepr.

“Our Company’s strategy, budget, and all our plans depend above all on employees and their health, how far they are viable and motivated towards achieving goals,” Tatyana Arslanova, Strategic Planning VP – VDM Managing Director, addressed to the audience. “And health is a keystone for everyone of us and generally the Company”.

Anna Popova, Chief Physician VDA, spoke about VDG personnel health and working capacity.
“Both the Employer and Employee are equally responsible for health status,” Anna stressed, “Employer’s responsibility is with Corporate health, while the Employee’s with personal health”.

Health and working capacity subject was carried on by Viacheslav Rolko, Candidate of Medical Science, general physician, a specialist in anti-ageing and functional medicine. He told the participants on three main reasons affecting health and working capacity: 1) Long-lasting stress, 2) Digestive tract issues, and 3) Chronic intoxication.

Also, Mr. Rolko reminded it is very important to drink as much as possible pure water, at least two liters. He advised to pour potable water into two 1-liter glass bottles, add lemon, and drink the first bottle during the first part of the day, while the another during the rest of the day.

TOP-Class participants also enjoyed a speech by Andrei Beloveshkin, Candidate of Medical Science, a Medical University Teacher who told about proper control of motivation, satisfaction, learning, insistence and determination.

VDA_0229All experts agreed that favorite job, good family and outdoor activity are guarantees to healthy and efficient longevity.

The training session ended up with practice: having been separated by groups, the participants chose specific suggestions to preserve health of personnel and the Company. Some of the suggestions were approved and already accepted for implementation.

“I remember an example provided by psychotherapist at breathing exercise: “Successful people have the following way of thinking: I need it therefore I will get it. And only afterwards, while en-route, they overcome obstacles. All others, at first, assess risks and reasons why the goal may turn unachievable.
I was very impressed with the statistics presented by Anna Popova, and detailed analysis of our personnel’s health status. It seems to me we are absolutely prepared, based on this analysis, to take management decisions on allocation of funds, and achieve improvements in health factor without increasing investment.
It has become important to understand that each of the participants can change the reality for better: management decisions suggested for the next year were very important, and I hope that at least part of these will be approved. And no less important that each manager recognizes the responsibility for creating a culture of a “healthy” organization. Many thanks to the Corporate University for giving me a chance to participate!”
