Eliciting Knowledge!

Within the realization of the company strategic project “Field-Specific Knowledge Center” global knowledge elicitation on all the company functions and processes has started in both charter and regular VD businesses.
The pilot project realized in VDTM last June showed that the company employees were truly engaged in the knowledge elicitation process – during the project more than twenty experts on different fields were identified!

– We managed to develop Knowledge Elicitation Technology, we got it approved, so the document will be applied in other Structural Units of the VD Group, – said Alexey Zimin, the Pilot Project Manager. – We also mastered knowledge mapping, so we have knowledge maps which describe every knowledge item as well as knowledge needs and requests. We also made a so-called knowledge graph which visually comprises all the knowledge maps.

Fifteen trained technologists have already set to work – these are the people who are like bees will be collecting precious “knowledge honey” into the company “cells”.
On the meeting devoted to knowledge elicitation in charter and regular businesses the company president Alexey Isaykin emphasized the necessity to form the culture of knowledge beneficial for customers; “The company health is first of all proved by its knowledge. The “knowledge factory” should operate maintaining the minimum of the required knowledge and multiplying it”.

Rodion Nelidov and Fedor Novikov, the participants of the training program for the company management pool, are the group leaders on knowledge elicitation in “Volga-Dnepr” airline and in “AirBridgeCargo” airline.
This is how Rodion Nelidov commented on the project: – We have started project works with the list of the processes (their owners and products) which are going to be exposed to knowledge elicitation. The next step is interviews with experts and process owners, so now we are working on the interview schedule.

October 21 was the training day for technologists from “Volga-Dnepr” airline, where Natalia Bashkirtseva, the VDTM representative, was sharing experience on the knowledge elicitation process during the pilot project.  Among the training participants there were real experts: A.Leonov, T.Bobrova, A.Klevtsov, D.Zimin.

The trainees were also given a chance to try and conduct an expert interview.
– After the training and process coordination we decided to make use of the weekend – breathing fresh air, doing sport and boosting the team morale, – said Rodion Nelidov.
